July and August are the hottest months of the year and temperatures can reach as much as 37ºc. Being close
to the sea, Barcelona can also be fairly humid in the hot weather, although the sea breezes are most refreshing.
Barcelona's weather also applies for the neighbouring Costa Brava towns and resorts of Badalona, Montgat, Sabadell, Sant Cugat del Valles, Castelldefelles, Garraf and Sitges. n any season of the year, Barcelona basks
in the sun. You can eat in open-air restaurants or have a drink on the terraces, by the shores of the Mediterranean sea and enjoy the nightlife in summer clothing until the early hours of the morning without once feeling cold!
From November to April, it is advisable to wear either a warm sweater, jacket or coat. In mid-winter, around February time, Barcelona City is at its coldest, although January can quite often have pleasant mild spells. From March onwards the weather begins to warm up dramatically and is certainly more sunny. May is a particularly pleasant time to visit Barcelona in Spain, with the weather being warm and fresh. Rainfall in Barcelona is at its highest in autumn and winter, and between September to October there can be the occasional thunderstorm.
Out of the city, the weather varies enormously from region to region. On the coast either side of Barcelona
it's best - naturally enough - in summer, though from June to September tourist resorts like Sitges are packed. Tarragona , too, can be extremely hot and busy in summer, though it's worth knowing that Girona is considered to have a much more equable summer climate, and escaping from the coast for a few cool days is easy.
